Windows Vista Start Menu updates not shown

What appears to be going on?
I have noticed recently that anything that I install is just not showing up on the start menu, even though the installation options are set to creating a link on the start menu, same goes for the quicklaunch for that matter.

What O/S’s appear to be affeced?
From what I can tell, it appears to be Vista only, and it is not as though I am only checking i with cheap applications or applications created by a small firm or someting as I have attempted with recently released games such as Brothers in Arms.

Is there any fix for this?
I have not currently found a fix but I am currently looking for one, I will be sure to post a blog entry about it and explaining how to do the fix for it, once I know. If you do know of a way to resolve this issue then please let me know via coment or email!

I am not sure I totally agree with you, but it is well stated. Keep up the good work.

I have no idea how to fix it. GOOD LUCK! lol

I get the feeling it’ll do the same in Windows, as it is probably part of their design. Sessions are stored in files, and so if a script (script 1) opens the session file and reads the session array, alters it, and then closes/saves it, but another script (script 2) opens the session file half way through and then saves the file after the other script (script 1) has finished with it, the changes script 1 made would be lost in cyberspace…

This is why creating sessions in MySQL works much better!
